ASCB-accredited certification

ISO 14001 certification

An environmental management system helps organisations understand environmental impacts, meet compliance obligations and improve environmental performance. AAA provides an impartial, predominantly remote certification journey with clear audit planning and communication.

What the audit evaluates

Aspects and impacts

How significant environmental aspects and life-cycle considerations are identified and controlled.

Compliance and risk

How obligations, risks, objectives and emergency arrangements are managed.

Performance

How environmental performance is measured, reviewed and improved.

Certification, not consultancy. We explain the audit and certification process, but do not design or implement the management system we certify.

How the certification journey works

We agree your activities, locations and proposed scope before planning the audit. The programme reflects the size, complexity and environmental context of your organisation.

1. Application and planning

Tell us about your activities, people and sites to see an initial fee based on your answers. We then review the declared environmental scope and plan the audit programme.

2. Stage 1 and Stage 2

Stage 1 reviews readiness and the structure of your environmental management system. Stage 2 samples implementation through interviews, records and operational activities.

3. Review and decision

We record findings clearly. After any required response, technical review and an independent certification decision take place before a certificate is issued.

Audits are predominantly remote where the scope and risks allow. If an onsite element is needed, your auditor will discuss what reasonably needs covering. Any onsite days are agreed in advance and charged separately at £400 per day plus VAT.

What evidence might we sample?

The audit looks at whether your environmental system fits your activities and works in practice. Depending on the scope, evidence may include:

Aspects and controls

How you identify significant environmental aspects, including relevant life-cycle considerations, and control activities that could affect the environment.

Obligations and preparedness

How you determine applicable compliance obligations, evaluate compliance and prepare for credible environmental emergencies.

Results and improvement

Objectives, monitoring, internal audits, management review and action when results or controls fall short.

AAA assesses the system independently. We can clarify audit requirements, but cannot design or implement the controls we certify.

When might site observation help?

Remote interviews and records can provide strong evidence for many organisations. Where significant impacts depend on physical operations, an auditor may also need to observe the activity or its controls. Examples include waste handling, storage, emissions, spill response or work carried out at a client or contractor site. The need depends on your actual activities and the evidence available, rather than the sector label alone.

Plan it together. If physical observation is needed, the auditor will discuss what can reasonably be covered and agree any onsite days before they are charged. See our remote audit approach.
