A labelling error can affect a product after many earlier checks have been completed. A quality audit can examine how specifications, print changes and release decisions are linked, without assuming the cause of a particular recall.
Questions to follow in an audit
- Who approves the current label specification?
- How is the printed label checked against the product batch?
- What records support a decision to release or hold stock?
Connect the records with practice
Sample a packaging change and follow its approval, production checks, batch identification and response to a reported discrepancy.
